Mayor’s Charity

For her Mayoral year, the Mayor has chosen the theme ‘Working with the community for the community’.

She has chosen to support two charities which are Space2Grow and the Hale Community Centre project.

Space2Grow

Space2Grow is a community garden set on an acre in the heart of Farnham.  Space2Grow uses horticulture as a tool to help people with health issues that include mental health, addiction and eating disorders, offering them a non-judgmental and safe space.

Hale Community Project

Hale Community Centre provides opportunities for individuals and groups to run their own educational, training, employment, cultural and leisure activities.  Its vision is to be the heart of the community enabling social and community success.

There is a community garden, a community choir, a Girlz Club for 11-16 year olds, a seniors group, an opportunities group, holiday activities and much more.

About the Mayor

The Mayor acts as an ambassador for Farnham, promoting and upholding the character of the town, supporting community groups and projects.

The Mayor is Farnham’s first citizen. Town councillors elect the Town Mayor annually. The Mayor-making ceremony takes place in early May at the first meeting of the council year. The Mayor is elected to office for one year.
