Residents and people who have an interest in Farnham have just over one month to take part in a consultation that will shape the future development of Farnham.

Farnham Town Council is seeking views from people on Farnham’s draft neighbourhood plan. The plan puts forward options for many of the elements that shape the town’s character such as the location and design of new homes, proposals for the town centre and local shopping centres, open spaces and many of the facilities that give an area its unique character.

Councillor Carole Cockburn, Lead Member of Farnham’s Infrastructure Planning Group says: “At over 80 pages long, the draft neighbourhood plan includes a lot of information. To give everybody the best possible chance of taking part in the consultation, a travelling roadshow will visit each of Farnham’s communities. The neighbourhood planning team will be available to answer questions and to provide information.

“To reach as many people as possible, the roadshow will be calling in at a number of events that are already planned to take place in the town during the consultation period. This includes school Christmas fayres, community coffee mornings and the Farnham town Christmas lights switch-on. As an added incentive, everybody who completes a questionnaire will be entered in a free draw to win an Apple iPad Mini. Anybody who cannot get to their local event is more than welcome to join us for a cup of tea or coffee at our pop up community café in Castle Street on 6 December or to take part in a live Facebook chat from the comfort of their own home on 10 December.”

The Mayor of Farnham, Cllr Jeremy Ricketts adds: “This is a genuine opportunity for local residents to shape the future development of the area where they live. I hope everyone will encourage friends, relatives and neighbours to complete the questionnaire.”

Full details about the consultation and dates of the events can be found on the neighbourhood plan pages.
